Tuesday flame HOPE

Tuesday DVD

Theme: God wants each of us to live hope-filled lives so we can accomplish all He has called us to do. We must first discover the things that kill our hope, and then learn how to build up our hope in the Lord.

Scripture: Judges 6:11-16, 34; 7:2-4, 7, 17, 22 The LORD said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.”

Prayer: Lord, thank you for Gideon’s example. His life shows us that when we have no hope, You show up to restore that hope within us. Thank you for Your unchanging faithfulness. Teach us today how to develop healthy habits that will lead to a life of hope.

Closing Statement: God will always be faithful in keeping His promise to infuse us with hope, thus strengthening us for the tasks He has called us to fulfill. But we are responsible to put aside all unbelief, negative words, laziness, and despair. Then we must choose to walk in belief, trust, and perseverance. Our hope will increase as we firmly stand on His faithfulness.

Extra Verses: (I) Psalm 42:5 – “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” (II) Jeremiah 14:22 – “Our hope is in you.” (III) Psalm 31:24 – “So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord!”

Wednesday flame COURAGE

Wednesday DVD

Theme: Although we will inevitably encounter many fearful situations in our lives, each of us can learn to respond courageously, instead of allowing our fears to control us.

Scripture: Daniel 3:8, 12-18 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.

Prayer: Lord, show us today that it is possible to courageously face our fears in order that we live victoriously. We need courage to accomplish our fitness goals. Thank You for being our ultimate Source of courage! Amen.

Closing Statement: As you and I continue on our journey to improve our overall health and fitness, we will likely encounter obstacles along the way that may elicit fear. We must remember that even though fear is a natural reaction to danger or pain, learning to courageously respond to our fears is the key to overcoming them and living victoriously.

Extra Verses: (I) Joshua 1:6 – “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. (II) Joshua 1:7 – “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.” (III) 2 Samuel 10:12 – “Be courageous! Let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. May the Lord’s will be done.”

Thursday flame POWER

Thursday DVD

Theme: Understanding the power Source and our responsibility to tap into it, are two of the most important keys to operating in the power God makes available to us.

Scripture: Judges 14:5, 6; 15:11-15, 18 As Samson and his parents were going down to Timnah, a young lion suddenly attacked Samson near the vineyards of Timnah. At the moment the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon him, and he ripped the lion’s jaws apart with his bare hands. He did it as easily as if it were a young goat…”

Prayer: Lord, we look to You today to give us a more complete understanding of Yourself as our power source. We need Your power to accomplish anything of lasting worth. Help us to more fully grasp Who You are, but also who You want us to be as well. Your desire is that we walk daily in the power of God. Show us today how to do that. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Closing Statement: Each of us can expect to see greater power manifested in our lives as we better understand that God is the source of our power, and that we are responsible for appropriating the power He has already supplied for us.

Extra Verses: (I) II Samuel 22:33 – “God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect.” (II) I Chronicles 29:11 – “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, And You are exalted as head over all.” (III) II Chronicles 20:6 – “O LORD God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might…?”

Friday flame REFLECTION

Friday DVD

Theme: Each of us can use reflection as a powerful tool in accomplishing our fitness goals by taking on some biblical challenges and by avoiding some pitfalls!

Scripture: Genesis 1:31-2:3 Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!

Prayer: Father, as we reflect on the past week, we are excited to see our progress thus far! Thank You for giving us the strength and ability to accomplish all that we have. Please show us any necessary improvements we need to make. We love You, and we give You all the praise and glory. IN the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Closing Statement: As we take time to look back, to learn, and to listen, we can grow from the discoveries reflection provides about ourselves and our progress.

Extra Verses: (I) Psalm 105:4 – “Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.” (II) Psalm 77:12 – “They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.” (III) Psalm 119:55 – “I reflect at night on who you are, O Lord; therefore, I obey your instructions.”

Saturday flame FOCUS

Saturday DVD

Theme: You can become a better steward of your body, the temple of God, by choosing to set your FOCUS on three principles given to us from God’s Word.

Scripture: II Kings 6:8-23 Suddenly the Lord opened the servants’ eyes and when he looked up he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire. The unseen army ended up defeating the massive army that was out to destroy Elisha.

Prayer: Lord, We know that in this story You have reminded us that You are stronger than any obstacle that could potentially destroy Your plan for our lives. It is certainly Your desire that we keep our bodies healthy. So help us to learn today what we need to focus on in order to become better stewards of our bodies. In Jesus name, Amen.

Closing Statement: When you choose to focus on the unseen, your perspective on all of life begins to shift. Circumstances lose their power to bother, discourage, or tempt you because you live “by faith, not by sight” (II Corinthians 5:7) – and that changes everything!

Extra Verses: (I) II Corinthians 4:18 – “We do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (II) Hebrews 12:2 – “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…” (III) II Corinthians 5:7 – “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Sunday flame OUTLOOK

Sunday DVD

Theme: You and I will see improvement in our fitness levels as we adjust our outlook on life. Today we will investigate three ways we can challenge ourselves to live each moment intentionally and to the fullest.

Scripture: Romans 13:11-12 Another reason for right living is that you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up…The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here.

Prayer: Father, we ask You to challenge us today as we seek to have a proper outlook on life in general, including our level of physical fitness. Ho w we care for each area of our lives is very important to You. We need You to help us adjust our perspective in order that we live life to the fullest. Thank-You.

Closing Statement: Each of us has been given one life to live. Attaining a proper outlook on life is possible if we will choose to live out our “dash” with a sense of urgency, purpose, and priority.

Extra Verses: (I) II Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. (II) Hebrews 12:1 – “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” (III) II Corinthians 4:18 – “So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
